This is a great walk, alongside the River Thames, from Little Wittenham to Shillingford. If you’re feeling hungry you can extend the walk to visit the cafes or pubs in Benson. The return route is along the opposite side of the river, through farmland and woods.
I’ve lived in this area most of my life but only discovered two of these churches for the first time last week. If, like me, you enjoy exploring ruins then this walk is perfect for you!
These picnic spots are all within a 10 mile radius of Didcot. Most of them are informal spots, rather than dedicated spaces with picnic tables or facilities, so remember to pack a rug to sit on!
This is a short walk but one of my favourites. It’s a lovely walk beside the river and shaded pools, perfect for a sunny Sunday afternoon. Perhaps have a pub lunch in Sutton Courtenay and enjoy this stroll afterwards.
