Things to do in and around Didcot in September 2019

I hope you all managed to get away for a summer break, or at least a few days out in the sun. I cannot believe that I’m already seeing adverts for Christmas parties! In the meantime read on for things to do in and around Didcot in September 2019.

1. Macmillan coffee morning, Didcot Civic Hall

On Friday 27 September Didcot Town Council and the Civic Hall are supporting Macmillan with a coffee morning from 10am. Pop along, buy a cake and show your support.

2. Junior Touch Rugby sessions, Boundary Park

Starting again on Wednesday 11 September these sessions are for boys and girls from 8-13 years old.  Each session runs from 6-7pm and costs £2 (or free for members of Didcot RUFC). Beginners welcome.

3. Hagbourne village produce show, East Hagbourne Village Hall

Runs all day on Sunday 15 September. Pick up a programme from the community shop or Fleur de Lys for categories and event timings. Show off the fruit and veg you’ve grown in the village, bake a cake or take part in children’s activities.

4. Superhero family fun run, Aureus School

Gain sponsorship and walk or run 2.5K or 5K at 10am on Sunday 15 September in aid of Oxfordshire Mind. Family entertainment including bouncy castle, face painting and a cake stall.

5. Swish clothing exchange, Cornerstone

Organised by Sustainable Didcot this runs at Cornerstone from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 29 September. Bring along your good quality ladies and gents clothing and swap them for something different. £5 entry.

6. Play2Give charity ball, Didcot Civic Hall

On Saturday 28 September from 7pm. Enjoy canapés, a 3 course meal and night of entertainment. Raising money for Headway and Ronald McDonald House in Oxford. Tickets from Eventbrite.

7. Harwell half marathon, Harwell Campus

An off road course on the bridleways and footpaths surrounding Harwell Campus on Sunday 22 September. Prices from £23, register online by Tuesday 17 September.

8. Whitney Houston tribute,  Marlborough Club

Gemma, performing as Whitney, is on at Didcot’s Marlborough Club from 8pm on Saturday 21 September. Non members £8, members £5.

9. The bold, the young and the murdered, various locations

A murder mystery comedy performed by Didcot Phoenix Drama Group. You can catch it at 7.30pm on Friday 13 September in Harwell village hall, Saturday 14 September in Hagbourne village hall, Friday 20 September at St Blaise Church, Milton and Saturday 21 September at Northbourne Centre, Didcot. Tickets £10.

10. Yes Please, Goring village hall

A little further out but if you’re a fan of Yes then why not pop along to this tribute band? Performing at Goring village hall on Saturday 28 September from 7.30pm. Tickets £15.

11. Inner Warrior Camp at Boundary Park

Organised by Didcot RUFC, this session from 7-9pm on Wednesday 18 September is a fun introduction for ladies who are potentially interested in playing rugby. Full details can be found on the Didcot Valkyries Facebook page.

12. The Fooz, Wheatsheaf Pub

Foo Fighters tribute band, performing at the Wheatsheaf on Saturday 21 September from 9pm.
