Important info

Whether it’s fake news, data hacks or social media ills the internet often gets a bad press. It’s therefore important for me to be upfront about how the website works and what I do with your personal data.

Transparency

This is a personal non-commercial website, funded by myself. It is not connected to any business or to offficial town organisations.

I do not make money from advertising or affiliate marketing (revenue from clicking on links). I do not pay, and am not paid, for contributions to the site. I pay for the website, domain hosting and marketing costs. Unless otherwise stated in the blog post I pay for my own entrance fees, meals and tickets.

Editorial

Although the posts may be written with the input of others the final decision on what to publish is mine. Reviews are my personal opinion.

I pre-moderate blog comments and may choose not to publish them if, for example, they are offensive, of an illegal nature or contain inflammatory language.

Your privacy

If you have sent me information to appear in a blog post you will have provided this for the purpose of publication.

I will publish your first name, but not your surname, age or address unless you have agreed to  provide it for publication e.g.  as a contact for a club or organisation.

Due to the public nature of the site I have chosen not to accept personally identifiable blog contributions from those under 18 years old. However, if I write about, for example, a junior sports club, I may publish photographs where parental permission has been provided.

If, at a later date, you require the information removing please get in touch with details via email.

Information I collect on my website

There are two key data collection areas on the website; when you leave a blog comment and when you subscribe to receive email updates.

Both options require you to enter your name and email address.

Blog comments are processed through a third party, Akismet, to reduce spam email. You can click on the link provided next to the comment box to understand how they use data. To delete a comment you have published please contact me with details and I’ll arrange to do so.

The email mailing list is stored on my web host and only used for its stated purpose. Your email address will not be provided to third parties. You can be removed from the list by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails.

Cookies

This blog uses traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used most frequently, and this information is used in statistical analysis (Google Analytics). I am not able to identify specific individuals from this data.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies at any time. For more information please visit allaboutcookies.org
