Wild Didcot photo competition

Do you love to take photos of local wildlife? If so, please do enter the Wild Didcot photo competition.

Sustainable Didcot are holding their second Wild Didcot Cafe event on Saturday 13 May at Didcot Civic Hall. In addition to stands from exhibitors, crafts, nature art and games there is a photo competition, which invites residents to submit photos taken locally of our natural world.

What is the photo competition theme?

The theme is Wild Didcot. You can interpret this however you wish, although it must relate to nature, not a wild night out at Broadways!

Suitable subjects might include wildlife gardens, birds and animals, close-ups of beetles or plants or your local nature area such as the ponds on Great Western Park or Mowbray Field. Photos of domestic pets and farm animals are not eligible.

All photos must be taken locally, within approximately 1 mile radius of Didcot’s border.

How do I enter?

Choose your three favourite photos which meet the brief and email them to wilddidcot@gmail.com.

In the subject, please state whether you are under or over 18 years old, as there are prizes for each category. Feel free to include more information in your email, for example, where the photo was taken and what it is. However, judging will be based on the photo alone. Judges will consider composition, creativity, originality and interpretation of theme.

Please keep each photo to a maximum size of 3Mb.

Shortlisting and judging

The closing date is midnight Sunday 30 April 2023.

Six photos from each category (under 18/over 18) will be shortlisted; all of these photos will be displayed at the Wild Didcot Cafe. The overall winner from each category will be notified in advance and presented (if available) with their prize at the Wild Didcot Cafe on Saturday 13 May.

What are the prizes?

There is one prize for each of the over 18 and under 18 year old categories of a trailcam, an outdoor wildlife camera. Pop it in your garden and see what wildlife turns up!
