This week’s autumnal weather signals the end of summer. But don’t worry as this post is packed full of events and things to do in and around Didcot in October 2019.
1. Didcot Food Festival, Didcot Civic Hall
Back for a 4th year, Didcot Food Festival runs from Saturday 26-Sunday 27 October. Includes chef and baking demonstrations, food traders, kids cookery, bar and live music. Adult day tickets £4, adult weekend ticket £7, accompanied under 16s free.
2. Didcot Job Fair, Cornerstone
If you’re looking for a job pop into Cornerstone on Tuesday 15 October between 1 – 5.30pm. There will be local retail, hospitality, care and transport employers plus advice and workshops to help you.
3. Didcot Greek and Roman Festival, Didcot Civic Hall
Meet a Roman soldier, take part in an ancient drama workshop and watch a Roman cookery demonstration at Didcot’s Greek and Roman Festival on Saturday 5 October from 11.30am – 5pm. Free entrance, book your tickets in advance.
4. Charity class-athlon, UTC
For a £20 donation you can take part in as many fitness classes as you wish at UTC gym from 9am – 3pm on Saturday 19 October. Non members welcome, 16+ years only. Monies raised go to Play2Give who support local charities. Register in advance here.
5. Fun Dog Show, Didcot Civic Hall
Bring your pooch along to a fun dog show on Sunday 13 October. Classes include best veteran, best junior handler and best Didcot dog! Register in the Ladygrove room from noon, £2 per class. Show starts at 3pm, entrance £3.
6. Didcot Documentary Discussion Group, Cornerstone
The first public screening of Didcot’s documentary group takes place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 16 October. Watch the documentary on conscious consumerism and discuss afterwards. Reserve your free ticket in advance.
7. Apple Day, Didcot Railway Centre
Join Sustainable Didcot at the railway centre to carry out apple pressing and children’s activities from 11am – 3pm on Sunday 27 October. Bring your own apples! Standard entrance charge to Railway Centre applies.
8. Didcot Concert orchestra, Cornerstone
Didcot’s concert orchestra will be performing at 4pm on Sunday 6 October. Includes works by Rachmaninov, Wagner and Rimsky-Korsako. Tickets £14 adults, £8 under 16 years from the Cornerstone website.
9. Spook-tacular Science, Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre
A spooky half term event on Wednesday 30 October from 10am – 3pm. Halloween inspired crafts and activities for accompanied children aged 4-11 years. £5 per child. Booking essential.
10. Litter pick, from Boundary Park
Fancy taking part in a litter pick on Great Western Park? If so, meet at 10am outside Boundary Park Pavilion on Saturday 26 October. All equipment provided. Register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
11. Charity quiz night, The Barn (Foxhall Road)
A quiz night from 7pm on Friday 18 October in aid of the MS Therapy Centre. Teams of up to 8, £7.50 per person. Bar, raffle and nibbles provided. Contact email@example.com for team form.
