Ah, November. The build up to Christmas, misty days and falling leaves. I’ve managed to avoid any dedicated Christmas events in this month’s round up, but next month will be a different matter! For now, read on for things to do in and around Didcot in November 2019.
1. Harri Endersby, Harwell Village Hall
Harri is a folk songwriter and musician, appearing from 7pm on Friday 8 November. Tickets £14 in advance from Bob’s Butchers in Harwell and Mostly Books in Abingdon. Concessions for under 16s.
2. Women at War, Northbourne Centre, Didcot
A talk on women and the war effort as part of the Didcot & District Archaeological & Historial Society programme. Starts 7.30pm on Thursday 14 November. All welcome, visitors £4.
3. Didcot Boxing Show, Willowbrook Leisure Centre
The first show from Didcot Boxing Academy. Doors open 6.30pm on Saturday 9 November 2019. £20 a ticket, £300 for a table.
4. Magic of soil talk, King Alfred Drive Community Centre, Didcot
From 7pm on Tuesday 5 November come along to a talk organised by Sustainable Didcot. Professor Phil Gregory will talk about the magic of soil, and the revolution in our understanding of its biology and complexity.
5. Didcot Gift and Craft Festival, Didcot Civic Hall
The annual Didcot gift and craft festival is from 10am-4pm on Saturday 2 November. Perhaps do some early shopping for that big event in December?
6. Mozart Requiem, St Matthew’s Church, Harwell
Autumn concert from Didcot Choral Society on Saturday 23 November from 7.30-9.30pm. Tickets from Try Booking, £10, free for accompanied school age children.
7. Didcot Community Fireworks, Didcot Football Club
A traditional bonfire and fireworks display on Friday 1 November. Gates open 4pm, bonfire lit 5pm, fireworks 6pm. £5 on gate, funds raised go to Didcot Town FC and profits to Play2Give.
8. Didcot Remembrance Parade and Service
Local clubs, organisations and forces parade from Wilko car park along Broadway on Sunday 10 November. Followed by remembrance service at Didcot Civic Hall. Parade scheduled to start 2.40pm.
9. Autumn bingo, band and cocktail night, Didcot Coronet
Live music from 4gband (straight after the bingo) on Saturday 16 November. Last entrance 7.30pm, band on from 9.30pm, bar (with cocktails) until midnight.
10. Fleur Stevenson Jazz Concert, St Michael’s Church, Blewbury
If jazz is your thing join Fleur Stevenson from 7.45pm on Saturday 16 November. Tickets are £15 from Blewbury Post Office and include a glass of wine, beer or soft drink.
