A few weeks ago Sebastiana contacted me to let me know about the little free library she has set up outside her house in Didcot.
I’m a huge reader, and get a lot of my books from the local charity shops. They’re temporarily closed so this is a great idea for anyone who is running out of reading material.
Sebastiana’s library is in a weatherproof bookcase in her front garden at 37 Churchill Road, Didcot, OX11 7BU. It’s inspired by a library she saw in a village in Surrey; she thought it would be great for Didcot to have something similar.
The library is free. The basic premise is that you donate a book/pick up a new book. However, if you don’t have one to donate I’m sure it would be fine to borrow one and bring it back. On the other hand, if you’ve got a lot of books to donate (or otherwise want to get in contact) do email Sebastiana at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I popped to the library whilst on one of my exercise walks. I was pleased to see quite a variety of genres and authors; there’s probably a book for you! Most are for adults but there was a small selection for children. There were also a couple of DVDs available.
It’s a lovely idea and well worth supporting. Do pop and pick up some new reading material!
