Whilst it’s great that Didcot’s Orchard Centre offers big name shopping remember to support local businesses when you’re Christmas shopping in and around Didcot.
From Christmas drinks to party dresses, trees to turkeys why not buy local this year? Read on for my Christmas shopping guide to Didcot and the surrounding villages.
Christmas food
Head to Q Gardens Farm Shop to buy locally raised Christmas meat. All the beef and lamb comes from their West Hagbourne farm, whilst free range geese and turkeys come from other local suppliers.
Just down the road, towards Rowstock, you’ll find the Old Farm Shop. This is another family run farm shop offering locally sourced meat, free range eggs and a vegetable box scheme.
Decorations, cards and wrapping paper
Feather and Nest, in the Orchard Centre, is a locally owned shop offering a unique selection of Christmas decorations, cards and wrapping paper. It’s also a great place to pick up a Secret Santa gift.
Party outfits
Emma’s Vintage Style on Edinburgh Drive, Didcot opened earlier this year. It offers quality retro and vintage inspired ladies and girls dresses and accessories at affordable prices in a wide range of sizes.
Several of Didcot’s charity shops, including the Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary shop, also offer party outfits and formal wear.
Christmas gifts
The Crafter’s Emporium on the Broadway, Didcot sells handmade crafts from over 30 different artisan sellers. Lots of Christmas present ideas including bath bombs, jewellery, clothing and paintings. Many items can be personalised or made to order.
Etsy are re-opening their store in the Orchard Centre from 2 December 2019. Featuring crafts from 40 local makers and small businesses they’ll also be offering an eco refill station and sustainable items.
Christmas trees
One of our Christmas traditions is a trip to Savages in Blewbury to choose our Christmas tree. There’s lots of choice, with prices ranging from £19-£65. You can also pick up Christmas wreaths, holly and mistletoe.
The Old Farm shop also sells Christmas trees, £35 each, with a £5 discount if you arrange your own delivery.
Christmas drinks
Kay Gee’s off license, on the Broadway, has friendly and knowledgeable staff and a good selection of Christmas tipples. They’ll happily order in items for you, can deliver and have very reasonable prices.
